Ménilmontant & Brumes d’automne | Alexis Mastichiadis

Two silent short films, Ménilmontant (1926, 38’) and Brumes d’automne (1929, 15’) by Dimitri Kirsanoff, will be presented at KET with live music for chebalo by Alexis Mastichiadis.

These films stand out because they combine in a refined way french impressionism, avant-garde surrealism, soviet montage, and hollywood melodrama. Alexis Mastichiadis will perform pieces for chebalo dating back to the 17th century by composers such as John Bull, Louis Couperin, Georg Bohm, Bernardo Storace etc. He will also perform some of his own compositions. The aim of this event is to explore how the arts of other times interact with the present.
