About

The duo Capricious Mango (Paulina Rewucka, movement; Rémy Gouffault, sound) joins saxophonist Niki Kokkoli and dancer Penni Eleftheriadou for a collaborative improvisational set. Their starting point is memory. Around this theme, they explore contrast, empathy, and gentleness, without ruling out noise and intensity when they arise.

◍ Capricious Mango began in 2023 with improvised encounters between electroacoustic sound and simple movements. It explores the body’s flexibility and deconstruction: two bodies in the same space, each shifting and reshaping the other. In their collaborative practice, they keep a dialogue open about current political events and do not exclude it from the performance.

◍ Paulina Rewucka is a dancer and researcher from Poland. She completed the master’s program in Dance and Participation at the Danish National School of Performing Arts (Copenhagen). She is interested in the biopolitics of corporeality and dance as a social act.

◍ Rémy Gouffault is a French percussionist, composer and producer. After studying classical percussions, drums and jazz, they moved closer to improvised and experimental music, and have recently drawn inspiration from Copenhagen’s noise and electronic scene. Today, Rémy is involved in experimental projects such as H4RDCRUSHX, CATAPLASME, and continues exploring the relationship between sounds and movements with artists such as Paulina Rewucka and Mark Bleakley.

◍ Saxophonist and improviser Nicky Kokkoli is active in the fields of contemporary jazz and experimental music. In addition to her solo projects, she performs at major European venues such as Café OTO, Milton Court/Barbican (London), Fylkingen (Stockholm), as well as at international festivals: the Aarhus Jazz Festival (Denmark), Jazz Goes to Town (Czech Republic), the Irtijal Festival (Lebanon), and Jazz Hochburg (Austria). She is a member of the Greek-Swedish sextet Ahanes (Petrichor, Clean Feed, 2022) and has performed with, among others, Maggie Nicols, Martin Küchen, Markus Stockhausen, Christer Bothén, and Bram De Looze. The album Project Nascence, released in 2024, consists of a solo section for saxophone, electronics, and vinyl records, and a second section recorded with a sextet. Her compositions musically explore the themes of femicide and mourning following the Tempi accident.
