ANTIGONE / this at least I can do it
“I’ll understand when I get old. If I get old. Not now”.
After the success of their own version of Chekhov’s “Seagull” (The Seagull… that’s what I wanted to say), HashArt Theater Company will present at KET “ANTIGONE / this at least I can do it”.
Through the texts of Sophocles, Anouilh, Cocteau, Brecht, the HashArt Antigone reflects a rusty world, our own, which is closer than ever to new forms of totalitarianism and violence.
She is not portrayed as a heroine. Not a statue, a monument, not even a symbol, but a brave alive girl, like the ones we meet every day in the current uprisings and revolutions of the world. She defies hypocrisy, corruption and, despite being opressed by absolute and merciless power, she never ceases to speak our language. She is a human figure who fears death, who fights for herself and talks about all the troubles of her soul.
