KET welcomes the trio of saxophonist Fausto Sierakowski for a concert with compositions inspired by the traditional music of the eastern Mediterranean. The trio consists of Fausto Sierakowski (saxophone, compositions), Panagiotis Kaitatzis (oud) and Stratis Skourkeas (percussion). The singer Maria Vakali will perform with them for the first time.
Through an abstract yet flexible orchestration, the trio’s music travels from the intense rhythmic patterns of the Balkans and the repertoire of zournas to the more contemplative songs and the different atmospheres of the eastern musical patterns, where the musicians often move freely. The programme consists of both original compositions and pieces from the traditional and classical repertoire.
