The ΦΕΜ group returns to KET with a kinesiological workshop where participants will get to know the different tools used in the creation of the project “A Talk”. “A Talk” was presented at Piraeus Municipal Theater (“Open Doors” program, November 2018) and at KET (December 2018 and June 2019, www.polychorosket.gr/events/a-talk-omada-fem).
The workshop is aimed at dancers and non-dancers, people interested in movement, regardless of experience. The workshop will explore the possibilities that come when two or more bodies meet: how they communicate, collaborate, conflict and move together in space. The use of the tools to be taught is aimed at evolving kinetic dialogues that end up telling little stories of coexistence. The ultimate goal of the meetings is to present to the public a new composition, based on the material explored by the participants.
The workshop consists of two cycles:
• 1st Cycle: Sunday 3, 10, 17, 24 November | 16:00 – 18:00
During the first four meetings, participants will explore the kinetic material and tools suggested by the group. Initially attention will be paid to basic exercises related to axis, soles, and body weight, which will allow exploration of movement in space, individually and in groups. Then, working in pairs, the team will consider the use of touch as a means of communication and how the body has the ability to propose or follow a direction. By practicing and understanding the above tools, participants will reach the point of creating small improvisational dialogues with their bodies.
• 2nd Cycle: Sunday 1, 8, 15 December | 16:00 – 19:00
The second cycle aims to structure the presentation, which will be based on the material explored in the first cycle. At the same time two musicians (Fotini Banou – voice, Dimitris Alexakis – bouzouki) will participate in the group and they will take part in the final composition and presentation of the work. The purpose of the collaboration is to examine music as an additional “body” that enters the kinetic dialogue, with the ability to propose, resist and accompany the movement of the participants.
• On December 15, following the final meeting, the findings of the workshop will be presented at KET along with “A Talk”.
Cost: 80€ (for 7 meetings), 70€ (for 7 meetings – early bird – registration until 25/10), 50€ (for one cycle, either the first or the second).
