Max/MSP/Jitter Workshop | Tatsuru Arai
Composer and visual artist Tatsuru Arai (Japan, Germany / www.tatsuruarai.com) returns to KET with an audiovisual workshop on Saturday 21 December. The workshop focuses on the Max / MSP / Jitter visual programming language and how it is used to produce music and images. The workshop is mainly for beginners.
The workshop covers the following areas:
Max/MSP for sound:
1. Introduction
• set-up Audio Status, file preference
• generate sound signal/cycle~, phasor~, rect~,saw~,noise~
• sound file play /play~, sfplay~, groove~
2. Basic Method
• midi, note control
• control of number by random, line, cycle
• sound effect/filter, reverb, delay
Jitter for visuals:
1. Introduction
• visual generate/jit.matrix, jit.noise
• movie play, video play movie
• graphic generate /jit.gl.render, jit.gl.sketch, jit.jit.gl.mesh
2. Basic Method 1 / transform sound to visuals
• transform and perform MSP signal to jitter date/jit.catch~, jit.graph
• matrix date bring to render and window/jit.gl.plane
• make the “sound matrix”
3. Basic Method 2 / transform sound to geometry
• evaluate procedural basis funtion/ji.bfg
• create gl geometry from Matrix jit.gl.mesh
• sound analyse/peakamp~
• generate “sound geometry”
Participants have to bring their own laptop, and they should have downloaded Max 8 or 7 (https://cycling74.com/).
The night of the same day (Saturday 21/12, 21:00), Tatsuru Arai will present live at KET his audiovisual project, along with Stefanos Syminelakis.
