About

Four Reykjavík-based artists will present four interrelated solo performances based on DIY instruments, idiosyncratic techniques, and repurposed materials. Their collaboration explores the boundaries between physical and digital sound production — biosignals, electromagnetic field detection (circuit sniffing), neural audio synthesis, and light-to-sound conversion.

The concert is part of the Optical Scores project and is supported by the Culture and Art program of the Nordic Culture Point organization.

🔷 Áki Ásgeirsson is a composer and multimedia artist from Garður, Iceland. He has written music for traditional instruments and has designed new acoustic instruments, audio software, computer-controlled instruments, and sound installations. He is a member of the composers’ collective S.L.Á.T.U.R. and co-organizes the RAFLOST festival.

🔷 Þóranna Dögg Björnsdóttir is an artist based in Reykjavík, Iceland. Her work is based on the interaction between cinema and live music performances and takes the form of sculpture, performance, and sound art. She is a member of the international artist group Wunderland.

🔷 Árni Valur Kristinsson has been active in various electronic music scenes since the late ’90s, through solo and collaborative projects. In recent years, Árni Valur’s practice has moved between composing music for films, experimental video production, and improvised performance.

🔷 Stefanos Skialivas is a musician and music technologist based in Reykjavík. He develops DIY interfaces for interacting with neural audio synthesis, feedback systems, and physical modelling. He collaborates with the Intelligent Instrument Lab and the Acute Research Lab at the University of Iceland.
