Savvas Metaxas | Yiannis Kotsonis

Savvas Metaxas and Yiannis Kotsonis share the stage again, after a long time, and welcome the new year with a concert at KET on Saturday, January 4th.

Savva Metaxas’s interest is in the areas of experimental music, field recordings and modular synthesis techniques, with a particular focus on introducing music to everyday sounds, from ambient sounds to ordinary noises. In 2008 he co-created Granny Records, which aims to release works by contemporary experimental music artists, ranging from free improvisation and noise, to electroacoustic and modern electronic music. Along with the operation of Granny Records, he has participated in the organization of numerous events in the city of Thessaloniki. He has released work on labels such as Granny, Orila, Panospria, More Mars, Cronica, Logarithm, Galaverna, Coherent States and he has performed in numerous concerts. His latest release is the album entitled ‘Silent Sound’ (Falt).

Yiannis Kotsonis is a musician and improviser based in Athens. He has composed electronic music for theater, dance, video, multimedia installations and films. He often performs live and collaborates with musicians from Greece and abroad. Since 2006 he has been working closely with Danae Stefanou on the improvisational duet acte vide, with which he has held concerts, installations and educational programs in Greece, the United Kingdom and Ireland. He has seven solo releases with the alias Sister Overdrive and his own name.
