About

As part of their european tour and on the occasion of their release “Dregs” on the athenian label THALAMOS, the american duo Tongue Depressor stops in Athens for an audio performance at KET. Panos Alexiadis will perform with them, in one of his rare appearances.

Tongue Depressor (New Haven, CT) is the duo of Henry Birdsey (fiddle, lap steel) and Zach Rowden (fiddle, upright bass). They write, improvise, and perform music that draws from the fields of drone, harsh noise, and church music, often using microtonal tunings. Recent projects and releases include the the ongoing Fiddle Music series (currently at 5 volumes), Broad Is The Road That Leads To Death (2018 C/Site Recordings), and To See Not, a trio recording with percussionist Trevor Saint (Glockenspiel) out in January 2019 via Obsolete Staircases (Kentucky).

Panos Alexiadis is a sound artist who works with electronics and tape, exploring the boundaries between composition and improvisation in contemporary electronic and electro-acoustic music. Since 2012 he’s using mainly an ever changing modular synthesiser focusing on the creation of semi – abstract introverted sound environments. Since 2015 he co-curates THALAMOS.NET along his friend and collaborator Kostas Kefalianos. He continues to collaborate with comic artist Stathis Tsemberildis (Decadence Comics), making experimental hard SCI – FI films (Eschaton, MOA192B).
