On Thursday 19 May, KET hosts two improvisational and electro-acoustic sets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the first set, Giorgos Kokkinaris (double-bass), Nicky Kokkoli (saxophone) and Vago Tedosio (piano) use the time-tested trio format to push the boundaries of avant garde \/ free jazz improvisation and join them to the timbre and character of modern classical music practise. The performers come and go in spontaneous duets, tutti and solos in constant flow from introvert playing to full-out rhythmic \/ harmonic fusions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the second set, Vago Tedosio presents his composition Uteri I<\/em> for voice and piano. Written in memoriam of his late father, this work marks for the composer the beginning of a series of compositions where the piano\u2019s mechanical designs are utilised as signal processors for other instruments and sound sources. Driven to the inner parts of the piano, the sound signal of these sources is effectively transformed and reborn \u201cex utero\u201d in order to provide further rhythmical and contrapuntal material to the composition. In Uteri I <\/em>the human voice is treated as a choreographed material of the body producing it. With an impressive array of possibilities ranging from animalistic howling to the semiology of language and from the immediacy of a mournful cry to the \u201cmanicured\u201d state of a melody, the voice coexists and collides with the piano which projects throughout the entire duration of the work its own capacities in tone and rhythm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Concept, composition and performance (piano \/ electronics): Vago Tedosio On Thursday 19 May, KET hosts two improvisational and electro-acoustic sets.
