Through original compositions and elements of improvisation, its approach balances between Western European and Eastern influences, creating an original soundscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SIBiLIMA performs three new works: the \u201cString Quartet + Cretan Lyra\u201d and \u201cCretan Lyra\u201d by the American composer Coleman Zurkowski and \u201cORFURO\u201d by Giorgos Tamiolakis. In 2017, he organized an international&nbsp;tour of his album&nbsp;<em>ZERO<\/em>, which was later released by&nbsp;Dangerbird Records in Los Angeles in 2018.&nbsp; In 2019, he&nbsp;released his follow up album&nbsp;<em>INSTRUMENTAL<\/em>&nbsp;with a US tour&nbsp;through New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Cleveland, and&nbsp;Miami. In 2022,&nbsp;Zurkowski&nbsp;released&nbsp;<em>Music&nbsp;for No One<\/em>&nbsp;which toured internationally featuring performances in Athens (at KET), Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Cleveland, and Minneapolis.&nbsp;Zurkowski&nbsp;currently works in New York composing music for film, TV, commercials, podcasts, and theatre as well as presenting music of his own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.colemanzurkowski.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u>www.colemanzurkowski.com<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cellist and composer&nbsp;<strong>Giorgos Tamiolakis<\/strong>&nbsp;was born in Crete in 1986. A graduate of the Music Lyceum of Pallini, the National Conservatory of Halandri and the \u201cFryderyk Chopin\u201d Music Academy in Warsaw, he won the 1st Prize in the National String Competition of the H.O.N. (2010). He has taken part in seminars on music interpretation with Julius Berger &amp; Umberto Clerici and on music composition with Rafal Janiak, Aleksander Kosciow &amp; Minas Borboudakis. He has performed as a soloist with the K.O.A. at the Athens Concert Hall (2011). He has collaborated as a composer, sound designer and performer with groups of all musical genres, as well as with theatre and contemporary dance groups, in live performances and video art projects. His compositions are characterized by melodic and geometric structures, often influenced by folkloric elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The music group<strong>&nbsp;SIBiLIMA<\/strong>&nbsp;is a kind of mosaic of different sound textures. They collaborated in 2021 with the National Opera House, creating two short films: \u2018Bridget Planets\u2019, with music composed by Giorgos Tamiolakis, directed by Margarita Gerogianni, and \u2018Getaway\u2019 directed by Pantelis Makkas. In the summer of the same year, they took part in the production \u2018Wanderings\u2019 directed by Konstantinos Hatzis and originally composed by Giorgos Tamiolakis, in collaboration with the actresses Sofia Pappa and Rubini Vasilakopoulou, as part of the event \u2018The Revolution through the eyes of others\u2019. In the summer of 2022, the group collaborated with Sophia Hill, in a production by Konstantinos Hatzis, at the Ancient Theatre of Delphi, on the occasion of the performance \u2018EKAVI STRINGS\u2019. In 2022 and 2023, they presented three classic silent cinema films with original music: \u2018Battleship Potemkin\u2019, \u2018Lights of the City\u2019 and \u2018The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari\u2019. The group has recorded and performed music by young Greek and foreign composers, most recently recording works by Christos Xenakis.
