Demi Spriggs<\/strong>, together with the band Friends<\/strong>, presents her first solo album Nights on the Folkway<\/em>, released on October 10, 2025, on cassette and CD by Submersion Records. Calliope <\/strong>opens the evening with a solo set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udd37 Musician Demi Spriggs <\/strong>is active between Athens and Essex. Her work draws on folk and country traditions, with songs that revolve around themes such as love and loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her music combines a sense of the distant past with a contemporary approach: vocal loops, voice processing, and unconventional harmonies between multiple voices and instruments create a sound that is minimalist yet intensely charged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nights on the Folkway<\/em>, her first full-length album, converses with influences from artists such as Joni Mitchell, Cat Power, Judee Sill, and Nick Drake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her band, Friends<\/strong>, functions as a flexible instrumental ensemble that accompanies her original compositions and covers, moving in an experimental jazz-pop style. Friends features Einar Stenseng (piano), Yorgos Smak (drums), Gerasimos Lorandos (bass), and Joe O’Connor (clarinet).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udd37 Musician and performer Calliope<\/strong> (Kalliopi Gerakianaki) spends most of her time trying to understand how to use synthesizers, loopers, and effect pedals, as well as untangling all the cables that connect them. She creates strange samples, of which she is quite proud, while trying to learn the trumpet and euphonium \u2014 instruments she treats as an extension of her voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her first album, M\u00c4DCHENBLUMEN<\/em> (Submersion Records, 2023), is a collage of music, poetry, and field recordings, through which she explores issues of forgiveness, femininity, and personal identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is currently working on her new album entitled LICE<\/em>, as well as on the project \u039f\u03a4\u0399 \u039c\u039f\u03a5 \u03a3\u03a5\u039c\u0392\u0391\u0399\u039d\u0395\u0399 \u03a4\u039f \u2019\u03a7\u0395\u0399 \u03a0\u0395\u0399 \u0397 \u03a4\u0396\u0395\u039d\u0397<\/em><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
