Mpataria invites you to its final Poetry Slam of the season at KET, to talk about that moment of spontaneous decision\u2014without thinking about the consequences. An outburst of self-care that spills over the cup of patience, leaving only one path forward. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

FOKO (FIRE)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a country so close to war and fire, the mythical creatures of Mpataria\u2014us\u2014like palm trees, we continue to burn and destroy ourselves and the world around us, through friction, fire, and ash, hoping for evolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few words about MPATARIA:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MPATARIA is an effort to establish and collect micro-publishing ventures that do not belong to large organizations and structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a communication platform that embraces and promotes autonomous actions aimed at highlighting and recording DIY creations such as: zines, publications, pamphlets, poetry collections, comics, artworks, and handicrafts by queer individuals and other marginalized groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The logo of MPATARIA (the handmade potato battery) symbolizes the self-illuminating artistic energy that springs from personal research, whether successful or not. It presents the project as a constantly evolving experiment that is not based on the result, but on the creators\u2019 need to share stories, traumas, and survival strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A virtual label that brings together and hosts smaller projects without a permanent home and seeks, through zine fairs, performance events, poetry slams, readings, workshops, discussions, and art exhibitions, to transform and evolve with them into something universally greater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MPATARIA is an initiative by artist Mochi Georgiou that was born out of the Queer Ink publishing project. Focusing on the DIY aesthetic of zine culture and poetry slams, MPATARIA proposes a new creative immediacy through which individuals express themselves and exchange information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
