\u201cSound of Color\u201d combines musical improvisation with the visual arts, presenting new audiovisual collaborations every month at KET.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Curated by Jannis Anastasakis and Natalia Manta, it has served for the past eleven years as a consistent platform for collaboration between musicians and visual artists, exerting a decisive influence on the Greek experimental scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seventh event of the season features: Jannis Anastasakis<\/strong> (guitar, analog synths, live electronics), Natalia Manta <\/strong>(live visuals), Nikos Ziarkas<\/strong> (guitar), Thodoris Ziarkas<\/strong> (double bass), Panagiotis Kostopoulos <\/strong>(drums), and Stavros Stamatopoulos<\/strong> (live visuals).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udd37 Based in London, guitarist and composer Nikos Ziarkas<\/strong> is a prominent figure on the contemporary British jazz scene. He stands out for his distinctive sound, technical mastery, and ability to move comfortably between different musical genres. He gained recognition through his participation in the experimental jazz group Valia Calda and his collaborations with Theon Cross, Lex Amor, Chelsea Carmichael, Moses Boyd, and Steam Down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udd36 Co-founder of the group Valia Calda, double bassist and composer Thodoris Ziarkas<\/strong> divides his time between London and Athens, working in the fields of jazz, improvisational, and traditional music. He collaborates with international groups and renowned artists (Nancy Mounir, Tom Sochas, Vanessa Kourtesi, London Improvisers Orchestra, Okay Temiz, Yazz Ahmed, Anna Homler, Steve Beresford, Savina Yannatou, Electric Litany, Tasos Stamou, Adam Bohman, Yuko Kaseki).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udd37 Drummer and composer Panagiotis Kostopoulos<\/strong> studied in Athens and New York. An active participant in the New York jazz scene, he has collaborated with Billy Harper, Jazzmeia Horn, and Charenee Wade. He is a member of the jazz and improvisational trio MOb. At the same time, he is developing his personal project PAKO KAAN<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udd36 Designer and multimedia artist Stavros Stamatopoulos<\/strong> creates experimental sound pieces and original videos. He graduated from the Vakkalo School (University of Derby). Incorporating his own techniques of sculpture and model-making, his thesis project focused on stop-motion animation. His work combines illustration, woodcuts, digital collage, and experimental music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udd37 Natalia Manta<\/strong>\u00a0is an artist based in Athens. Although clay is her primary medium, she also skillfully uses metal, wax, photosensitive chemicals, and video. Collaboration with various artistic disciplines is an integral part of her practice. From 2017 to 2020, she taught sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Arts, the same university where she earned her bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees. For the past 10 years, she has been co-organizing and curating the audiovisual improvisational series \u201cSound of Color\u201d with Jannis Anastasakis. Her works have been presented in exhibitions and institutions in Greece and internationally. In 2022, she was awarded the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Artist Fellowship by ARTWORKS and has participated in important residency programs abroad. Her creations can be found in private and public collections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udd36 One of the most distinctive guitarists and musicians on the Greek improvisational scene,\u00a0Jannis Anastasakis\u00a0<\/strong>has developed a recognizable personal sound that moves between ambient and psychedelia, balancing melody and noise. He is the founder of JAM Pedals, a company that manufactures handmade pedals used by leading musicians (Bill Frisell, John Scofield, Daniel Lanois, John Medeski, Nile Rodgers, Lee Ranaldo, etc.). He has collaborated with important artists from the Greek and international music scene, such as Arve Henriksen, Eivind Aarset, Christian Fennesz, Giuseppe Doronzo, Savina Giannatou, Haig Yazdjian, Thodoris Rellos, Michalis Siganidis, Floros Floridis, Lena Platonos, Spyros Polychronopoulos, Dionysis Savvopoulos, Haris Lambrakis, and others. He is developing the audiovisual project \u201cSound of Color\u201d with sculptor Natalia Manta on live visuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
