About

Composer and audiovisual artist Tatsuru Arai (Japan, Germany) visits KET again for another performance on the 21st of December. Stefanos Syminelakis will perform before Tatsuru.

Tatsuru Arai will present the audiovisual performance “QUANTUM-TON”, which is the third part of his project “Hyper Serial Music”. The project explores the history of serialism – an important method of 20th-century musical synthesis used by, among others, Arnold Schönberg, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Pierre Boulez – incorporating new technologies and perspectives, including artificial intelligence. In the history of music technology and serialism, the project “Hyper Serial Music” adds three points of innovation: “structural”, “complex” and “noisy”. In this third part of the series, Tatsuru produces a more complex and higher quality result, unraveling the relationship between sound and quantum energy as it would happen in a science fiction movie.

Stefanos Syminelakis will present a sound performance with percussion. Stefanos is a music producer and composer. His work mainly uses programming, recording and processing of signals, feedback techniques, cassettes, noise and sometimes physical instruments. He has participated in a variety of concerts featuring unique performances, combining sound performance and improvisation.

On the same day (21/12, 11:00-14:00), Tatsuru Arai will teach a MAX/ MSP/JITTER Workshop at KET.
